1948 Kenworth by Joel Thura |

I
like big American trucks, this one is a 1948 Kenworth, the older the
better. A Revell kit in 1/48th, it has been re-issued many times, including
quite recently. The conversion uses Scalextric formula junior motor,
steering unit and wheels; the tyres are Airfix recast in silicon by
Trevor May (thanks Trev). The most difficult part is building the kit
which is quite complex; the motor is held between 2 plastic brackets,
the rear one is held with one screw, the steering is also held with
1 screw. The very first release came with a nice box trailer, if anybody
out there has got one, let me know ( jthura@ricoh-uk.com ). I have almost
completed the companion truck, a White with a tanker trailer in Shell
colours, using the same motor and steering. There are 2 more small trucks
in the serie, a 1950 Ford pick-up and a 2 ton Chevy stake truck of similar
vintage (I have both, but they will have to wait).
