Speedking D type Jaguar, converted by Joel Thura

The original is a short nose Jaguar D type slotcar made by "Speedking" in Hongkong.

It has been converted into a long nose car representing the 1957 Le Mans winner

It is made in two halves, with a nasty big joint in the middle. the body was first glued together, and the middle of the chassis cut out. The long nose is then added using milliput. The motor is a Scalextric power sledge, the wheels are also Scalextric.

It would make a better racer if a Ninco chassis was used. Although crude in places, the original model is in many ways more accurate than the Scalextric version. The curves on the top of the nose and the plan shape being particularly good. The Speedking car is quite rare in the UK but not very expensive( Max £15.00). I think that it may be a copy of the Strombecker D Type, which you could use as a base for your conversion but expect to pay about £ 30.00 for it.
